Ocarina of Time will always hold a special place in my heart. It set a true standard for video games with it's massive dungeons, addicting puzzles, memorable supporting cast, and epic boss battles. Until now, I considered it not just the best Zelda game created, but arguably the best video game to ever be created. Ocarina of Time has officially been dethroned. Skyward Sword is simply pure Excellence. Visually, the game is the perfect blend of the graphics presented in The Wind Waker and the graphics utilized in Twilight Princess. The game literally feels like playing through a masterful piece of artwork. Looking into the distant, the view is blurred, as in an abstract painting. As you get closer, the view slowly becomes more realistic. Nintendo has taken a console lacking HD graphics, and put the other consoles, WITH HD graphics, to shame. The Boss battles are extraordinary, some of the best I've ever had the privilege to play through. Skyward Sword is a critical game not just in video game history, but especially for the Zelda franchise. SS beautifully explains how the Zelda universe comes to be, as well as the relationships which are famous in each Zelda game. I don't want to spoil the game for you, so I will decline to go into details. The supporting cast of characters (as well as the main characters) are charming, from the sassy robot Scrapper, to the lazy mother of Pipit. SS requires you to watch your enemy's moves, and figure out where their weak spots lie. Gone are the days of running in mashing the attacking button; Don't worry, this is most definitely a good thing. The game is packed with Side quests, as well as the lengthy main quest. The game took me over 50 hours to complete, doing all the side quests as well as the main quest. Skyward Sword also comes complete with Hero Mode, a more difficult version of the game which can be unlocked after your first play-through(Ala Master Quest). Before I wrap this up, I want to make myself clear. I don't want people to think I'm bashing OoT; quite the opposite. OoT is a true landmark in video game history, and a masterful game indeed. Skyward Sword would not be able to be the masterpiece it is without OoT. However, OoT is no longer the greatest zelda game ever; Skyward Sword simply puts it to shame on that level. I'm comfortable saying that Skyward Sword is quite possibly the greatest video game ever created.

I have always been a huge fan of the Zelda franchise but this is by far my favorite. The sound is incredible, the side quests are excellent, and you can play forever without losing interest. Best Zelda game ever. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Let me start saying that Nintendo sort of was off to a bad start in the year. They spent a lot of time on the 3DS and it was hard to see the 3-D. Some of their Mario games weren't like the old Mario, and I couldn't play 3DS games on a regular DSi that looked fun. So yeah disappointed. Kirby. Fun. Challenging. But then The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Amazing. Fun. Action-packed. Classic. Epicness. Legend. This game has it all. Now I see why reviewers are calling it the best game of the year. You have so much to do in the game. Think about it though. They actually took time to make this game what it is today when some companys rush just so they can get their game released. From 2008 to now. That's a long time. Anyway back on track. This game's gameplay probably made up the whole entire game. They had a new upgrading system. It works well, and it has all these items like slingshots, bow and arrow, bomb, beetle, rupees, poches, potions. Yeah you get the idea. Then upgrading the items gives it a more fun experience. Like upgrading sheilds, and gaining experience with swords. But the WiiMotion Plus. Thank you for thinking about that! The games with swordplay are sort of rip-offs because you don't control the movement. And look at this game. You control the sword. It even feels like I'm wielding the sword and I'm in the game. Flying around, finding treasure and getting clues and hints. Fun. Just Pure Fun! Graphics were amazing too. Making a young Link and Zelda and making better graphics for the past was a great idea. They are even accurate with every little detail in characters. Great work. They even gave me a free music cd with the game! Talk about something being worth it. Awesome! This game is also LONG! I mean Long as in 60 hours of gameplay or even possibly more! This game also includes something that all games should have. Fun, Creativity, and Lasting Appeal. This ranks a 100 out of 10. I'm also sad though. They say that this may be one of the the last Legend of Zelda game because they say the CEO of Nintendo is retiring. If that's so, thank you. I loved Nintendo this year and even off not to the best start, this was the year of Nintendo because of this game that they worked so hard on. Nintendo should be amazed and proud of their work!

This is my full analysis of the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword after experiencing it.

What did you like about the game, or why were you satisfied with the experience?

First of all, I liked the gameplay in Skyward Sword; it was a very unique experience for me. The one-to-one swordplay mechanic is a welcome addition to the Legend of Zelda franchise and I was very impressed by it. I was satisfied with the gameplay because I felt immersed in the game while I was fighting the enemies. I was also happy with the addition of the down D-pad function, which recalibrated the Wii Remote pointer to the center of the screen whenever you entered first-person view, which made aiming relatively easy and convenient. Second, I loved the art style of Skyward Sword where it combines the timeless youthful glamour of Wind Waker and the somber modern realism of Twilight Princess. I loved this unique art style because it presents the game as a moving impressionistic painting. I loved the fact that as you get closer to an object, such as a tree, you can see the nice detail and as you move farther away from the tree, I am able to witness it transfigure to a beautiful painting. This was a brilliant idea for Nintendo to present a game like this and I was very satisfied with the overall effect. Third, I liked the colorful characters in Skyward Sword and the way they influenced the game. I was entertained by characters such as the narcissistic Groose, the emotional robot Scrapper, the cruel flamboyant Ghirahim, the new enthusiastic portrayal of Zelda, and the rest of the vibrant characters the game had to offer. Last but certainly not least, I absolutely love the soundtrack in Skyward Sword. This is by far my favorite feature out of the entire game that it leaves me fascinated. This is the first time where a live orchestra is used for the soundtrack of a Legend of Zelda title and the result is incredible. There are many tracks I love from the game like the smooth freshness of Bamboo Island to the cheerful peacefulness of Skyloft. I love tracks from the temples like the unsettling chilliness of Skyview Temple to the serene heavily percussion-based Ancient Cistern. The theme that was used for the Koloktos/Moldrach battle made the experience intense, yet enjoyable for me. Skyward Sword's soundtrack proves that music can definitely influence the atmosphere of an adventure and has established itself as one of my favorite soundtracks from any game I’ve played so far.

What did you not like about the game, or why were you dissatisfied with the experience?

While Skyward Sword has its obvious strengths, that does not mean that it is a perfect game and that it does has it share of flaws. First, I was not satisfied with the item system in the game and the reason why was that I felt very restricted with the amount of weapon ammo, potions and other items I was able to carry. There were times were I had to take the time to carefully plan out which items to take and which items to leave at the item check booth which slowed down the flow of my experience in the adventure. Second, I wasn't pleased with the day/night system and I think this wasn’t executed properly. The fact that it's eternally daylight, unless I sleep in a bed to make it nighttime, restrains the realism this game was presenting to me. Also, I wasn't pleased that you aren't allowed to ride you Loftwing during the night and that the nighttime is only available for the side quests and not the main adventure, which left me disappointed and somewhat cheated. Third, I wasn't comfortable that almost all of the of the side quests were basically set in the sky and not on the surface world and I feel dissatisfied by this. Last, comes my biggest criticism in the entire game and that is the character that was with me throughout the entire adventure and that is Fi, the emotionless sword spirit. Fi is the biggest impediment for me to labeling Skyward Sword as a masterpiece. To me, Fi's main agenda basically involves spurious rigor. To elaborate, she basically presents obvious normal situations as exaggerated ordeals by providing unnecessary false statistics. Also, whenever Fi is speaking, its text moves slowly across the screen, dragging its dull speech, keeping me from fully enjoying the adventure and I found this very annoying. The fact that the ancient robots, such as Scrapper, have more personality than Fi makes me uncomfortable and dissatisfied. Fi lacks the character development that Midna had in Twilight Princess, and the enthusiasm that Navi had in Ocarina of Time. In my opinion, Fi is the worst companion I have ever traveled with in any Legend of Zelda title thus far.

Is there anything else you would like to mention about this game?

My overall experience with Skyward Sword is positive despite its defects. While the defects imply to me that Nintendo could've put more effort into this game and that it could've been better than the final result, it is still a remarkable adventure. To me, Skyward Sword is the Wii's swan song and demonstrates the system working at its finest. Everything in Skyward Sword, from the vivid art style to the splendid orchestrated soundtrack, exemplifies the Wii console functioning to its full potential. However this game did not meet my full expectations and thus I was left disappointed. Despite its shortcomings I was generally satisfied with Skyward Sword.

Would you recommend this video game to anyone?

I would definitely recommend Skyward Sword to any person whether or not they own a Wii console. I’ve enjoyed my experience playing this splendid game since it is a fun video game. Skyward Sword is a perfect game for people to enjoy whether they are hardcore or casual gamers. The gameplay is easy to adapt to and the adventure will leave them speechless. If people give this game a chance it will at the very least impress them.

It's a not bad game. Your Link in the Knight Academy until you win a contest. I saw Zelda a few times after she disappeared under the clouds. The bosses are hard and so are the Gaurdiens. I defeated the three spiritual Gaurdian levels. The Imprison is hard need to defeat it the second time that I need to do.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

Now, don't get me wrong: this is the best the Wii has to offer. I got this game when it came out, expecting it to be as good as Ocarina of Time. Um, yeah, I was wrong. I LOVE this game... for a while. Then it's just like. I still play this from time to time, but not as much as I used to. I played 5 hours of this in two or three weeks. Now, I play 2 hours in one or two MONTHS (or less than two hours). It just couldn't beat Ocarina of Time, which is impossible almost, since it's considered one of the best video games ever created. This? What is this? I love the motion controls, but you know how many times I gotta center that remote? And I had to BUY a Wii Motion Plus, which I got ripped off for, $19.99, and that was ninety bucks for this... this... what? Maybe you think I'm talking like I hate it, but I really like this game. But this WAS NOT, and I'll repeat it as many times as I have to, even close to beating Ocarina of time. People say "OH MY GOSH! BEST GAME EVER!". Well, I hate to break it to you, but it isn't even close. And everybody who says this is perfect is DEFINITELY exaggerating. I played almost every Zelda except Oracle of Seasons, and this was a real letdown to me. The graphics... well, they were a good solid 10. But really, Twilight Princess mixed with Wind Waker? Not such a smart move... make it look more real, Nintendo. More real. I am NOT a fanboy of some other gaming company. But... really. I know Nintendo, -and it's not the luxury, or the motion, even the graphics I care about, I want a challenge, and I want some FUN. Slapping enemies with a sword that you launch Skyward Strikes with is a waste of time- and Nintendo can do much better than this... They put almost ALL their focus on the motion controls, and forgot what made Zelda important... the adventure, the daring, and the classic elements of what was in majoras mask and ocarina of time, and what made them so great. The graphics were REALLY dang bad: nobody cared, and now that's all they care about. Anybody who played the first or second Zelda, or Ocarina of time or Majoras mask, knows what I'm talking about. Now, go buy a copy of the Ocarina of Time port, and see for yourself how great it was, or the 3DS version. Even better. Or, skyward sword. Great game overall, but it can NOT beat OoT. I stand my ground here.
